Dresser-Rand offers new, refurbished and remanufactured Spiraxial atomizing air
compressors for a variety of market applications. Dresser-Rand purchased the Spiraxial compressor product line in 1998 from Dresser Roots and is now the OEM.
The design of this unique compressor relies on nearly half a century of experience. It was developed for marine deballast, as an atomizing compressor for power generation applications, and for use in a variety of commercial applications, such as tank aeration and fly ash conveying. It is well-known for its rugged construction, long life and easy accessibility.
 Mode of
Operation
As a positive displacement compressor, the Spiraxial compressor displaces a specific amount of air with each revolution. Each rotor is a single-screw thread. As the two rotors intermesh, they rotate in opposite directions. The inlet cavity is positioned so that the advancing helix closes off the pocket of air after it has filled. As the helix advances, the pocket squeezes the air against the discharge end headplate. After the required degree of compression has been reached, the rotor uncovers a
discharge port and compressed air is released into a plenum in the headplate.
New Units/Overhauls/Parts
New units are available for immediate delivery from our facility and are mechanically and performance tested before shipment. Export boxing and shipment are available.
Overhaul kits are available and include bearings, seals, gaskets, O-rings and hardware. Overhauls are performed at our service center in Chesapeake, Virginia, and each overhaul includes a performance and mechanical test prior to shipment.
