Custom-designed PLC-based system provides fast, accurate control
Replace the hard-wired relay/ pneumatic controls on your CAP
or Isopac compressor with Dresser-Rand's high-efficiency
PLC-based
control system, and you'll receive the fastest, most accurately controlled system
available. The result? Maximum process usage to power ratio for improved plant efficiency
and increased compressor availability.
Our electronic control system can do everything that pneumatic controls can do--and more!
It can start and stop the compressor, as well as monitor oil pumps, solenoid valves,
automatic temperature valves, cooling pumps, inlet valves and blow-off (or anti-surge)
valves. In addition, it can be configured to interface with a scrolling or constant
display so that all data is available in one location. It also provides surge protection
to improve reliability, reduce maintenance and parts costs, and decrease downtime.
The main processing unit in our control system is a small, fast, modular, programmable
logic controller that can scan the program more than 50 times per second, providing very
accurate signal processing. Due to the programming logic algorithms, data can be
manipulated to accommodate changing machine and environmental conditions allowing precise
valve control and achieve maximum energy conservation.

Select from a wide range of
standard and optional features
Because responses are computerized, the
system accommodates simple circuit calibration and displays at-a-glance measurements.
Processor parts are easily interchangeable and require no pre-calibration, unlike the
pneumatic components. The system can be constructed with Allen-Bradley, GE Fanuc,
AEG-Modicon, and Siemens logic controllers or others of your choice.
D-R's control system can be retrofitted to most compressor types and manufacturers.
Through a custom design of our solid state control package, we can adapt to specific
requirements of your operation including those of any associated mounted devices. Selected
control interfaces and machine processes are integrated with real-time numeric data, alarm
function screens, and fault location displays in an easy-to-use format. You may choose
from push-buttons, indicator lights, keypads, or LCD-LED modules, as well as a monochrome
or color graphic keypad or a touch panel interface.
You may also choose any or all of the following optional features:
- 9 Cyclic oil heater control outputs to prevent burnout of elements
- Water control valve and water pump control outputs to conserve energy
- Central panel displays for improved use of time and personnel
- Main computer and DCS system integration to connect your entire plant information system
- Interactive system and load-sharing control to improve power usage for maximum efficiency
- Automatic system start-up for fast,
acurate, hands-off operation
- Machine data trending print-out for access to information for diagnostics, condition
monitoring, and planned maintenance
In addition to electronic control systems,
Dresser-Rand provides responsive, reliable technical support, parts,
field service, repairs, upgrades and overhauls on reciprocating engines and process
compressors, steam turbines, and turbomachinery. Through our network of service centers,
we are available 24 hours a day...anywhere in the world...to keep your equipment up and
running.
