Power and Compression Monitoring
Our deep understanding of the complex issues faced by operators and technicians in today's operating environment has made iMPACT from Dresser-Rand Enginuity the number one engine and compressor monitoring package in the gas transmission industry. Integrated, cascading diagnostic tools enable users to diagnose engine and compressor problems and pinpoint maintenance activities. When combined with any of Dresser-Rand Enginuity's electronic fuel management systems iMPACT provides continuous power cylinder balancing resulting in improved efficiency and reduced power side maintenance.
iMPACT is a family of systems that can be installed and configured for your specific requirements. Operating together, or standing alone, iBALANCE, iFLOW and iVIEW protect your valuable engine assets.
iBALANCE
The iBALANCE system continuously monitors and analyzes the combustion pressure of each power cylinder by sampling the pressure signal from the sensors once per crank angle degree for all power cylinders simultaneously. The module then uses the data to calculate the statistical information and perform integrity checks.iBALANCE consists of one or more modules for data acquisition and analysis, up to 10 high-temperature, fast-response pressure sensors (one per power cylinder) for each iBALANCE module, an air manifold pressure (AMP) sensor input, a top dead center (TDC) positioning sensor (MPU or proximity probe), and an MPU speed sensor input.
The iBALANCE module receives real-time pressure sensor inputs from power cylinders and outputs the following parameters continuously via Modbus®:
- Peak firing pressure
- Location of peak pressure
- Compression pressure
- Misfire
- Over-pressure
- Sensor diagnostics
- Standard deviation of peak firing pressure
iBALANCE can be easily integrated with the Enginuity Products HPFi fuel injection system for continuous engine balancing without any additional data acquisition hardware.
iFLOW
The iFLOW module continuously collects and processes compressor cylinder data. It includes modules for data acquisition and analysis, up to 10 fast-response pressure sensors for each iFLOW module, a top dead center (TDC) positioning sensor (MPU or proximity probe), a speed sensor input (MPU), and optional suction and discharge temperature sensors.
The iFLOW module receives real-time pressure sensor inputs from the compressor cylinders and outputs the following parameters continuously via Modbus®:
- Indicated HP
- Rod load
- Volumetric efficiencies
- Rod reversal
- Toe pressure
The iFLOW system can replace the existing compressor curves with real-time measured BHP, which can be used for torque control and continuous compressor optimization.
Information that iFLOW can provide:
- Indicated horsepower (system total)
- Brake horsepower (system total)
- Average discharge temperature
For each cylinder:
- Rod load reversal
- Rod load tension
- Rod load compression
For head end and crank end for each cylinder:
- Indicated horsepower
- Discharge pressure
- Suction pressure
- Discharge volumetric efficiency
- Suction volumetric efficiency
- Theoretical discharge temperature
- Flow balance
- Flow throughput
- Calculated clearance volume
iVIEW
iVIEW is a Microsoft® Windows®-based program used to set up, configure, and display real-time data from iBALANCE and iFLOW. It features data tables, bar graphs, and pressure-crank angle curves to display combustion and compressor data for engine-room performance analysis, including complicated performance parameters such as:
- Compressor brake HP
- Power-indicated mean effective pressure
- Clearance volume
- Polytropic exponents
- Isentropic efficiency
- Compression throughput
- Leak detection and quantification
With iVIEW, you can visually monitor the health and performance of compressors and engines, in the engine room and remotely over company communication lines. iVIEW is available in two versions:
- iVIEW Basic -- Standard operator interface with setup and data viewing
- iVIEW Pro -- Advanced diagnostic display and data trending
