Compact Gas-Liquid Scrubber for Gas Service
The IRIS® is a compact, gas-liquid scrubber for in-line pipe installations.
There are three sizes 1½" (40 DN), 3" (80 DN), & 6"
(150 DN) and
each contains a rotary drum, that uses the gas energy to spin liquids out of the gases. Its compact design allows it to be installed quickly, with minimal changes required to produce immediate separation results.
The 1½"
unit is a vertical design, and the 3" and 6" units are
horizontal.
The IRIS separator can be as little as one-tenth of the size and weight of a conventional static separator and requires less instrumentation. Separation efficiency meets or exceeds that of static separators and provides a gas outlet quality that is suitable for compressors or metering duty.
The unique design of the IRIS unit facilitates easy retrofit installation into any process piping. The unit is ideally suited for service in applications with limited space. It requires
no operator intervention and minimal maintenance.

The IRIS separator uses inlet gas pressure directed through static nozzles to create high-velocity swirling flow. The rotating fluid drives an internal
conical drum and creates a high "g" centrifugal field on the gas to remove liquid droplets from
it. Liquids are collected on the rotating
drum's internal surface and flow over the front lip of the drum, where they collect in a volute chamber. The
liquid is then discharged to a drain system for disposal.
