Siemens SGT-600 Gas Turbine

Power Generation: ISO 24.5 MW(e) / Mechanical Drive: 25.2 MW

The Siemens SGT-600 gas turbine is rated in the 25 MW class, with 33.6 percent open-cycle efficiency. Designed as a robust and compact twin-shaft machine, the Siemens SGT-600 is characterized by a long life cycle, easy on-site maintenance and flexibility in the choice of fuels. With its DLE combustion system, the Siemens SGT-600 can handle a wide range of gaseous fuels. For example, it is able to burn 60 vol percent hydrogen (H2) with water injection. A proven conventional combustion system is available for liquid fuels. Due to its compact design, the Siemens  SGT-600 is suitable for offshore systems and FPSO vessels as well as for retrofitting in existing installations.

Overview of benefits

  • 25 MW gas turbine with high efficiency
  • Low emissions performance due to well-proven Dry Low Emissions combustion system (DLE)
  • Same core turbine design for power generation and for mechanical drive installations
  • On-site maintenance or gas generator removal for maintenance in a service workshop
  • Casing with blade containment capability and thermal insulation without forced ventilation
  • Fuel changeover (gas to liquid fuel and liquid fuel to gas) on load
  • Load rejection capability
  • Complete delivery from OEM – factory-tested core turbine, including auxiliary equipment

High fuel flexibility

The Siemens SGT-600 is a twin-shaft gas turbine with a ten-stage compressor whose first two stages have variable guide blades. To avoid compressor surging during startup and under low loads, the Siemens SGT-600 has two bleed valves. The annular combustor accommodates 18 burners. The inner surface of the combustor has a layer of thermal insulation that reduces heat transfer and prolongs the unit’s life. The Siemens SGT-600 is available with a conventional or a Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system. The DLE system is extremely flexible when it comes to the composition of gaseous fuels and permits very low NOX emissions.

Applications

The Siemens SGT-600 has proven itself for industrial power generation and for mechanical drive. Fields of application are:

  • Compressor drive
  • Gas turbine power plants (simple cycle applications)
  • Combined cycle power plants (combined cycle applications)
  • Ideal for combined heat and power (CHP) due to excellent exhaust gas temperatures
  • Power generation for the oil and gas industry (onshore for use in oil fields or refinery applications and offshore on platforms and FPSO vessels)
