Siemens SGT-200 Gas Turbine

Power Generation: (ISO) 6.8 MW(e) / Mechanical Drive: 7.7 MW

The Siemens SGT-200 rugged and compact industrial gas turbine is available as a single-shaft version for power generation with a power output of 6.8 MW(e), and as a twin-shaft turbine with 7.7 MW for mechanical drive. The Siemens SGT-200 operates with various gaseous and liquid fuels. It is available as a factory assembled package, providing high efficiency and an excellent power-to-weight ratio. The Siemens SGT-200 gas turbine combines simple design with state-of-the-art technology and is ideally suitable for use, for example, as compressor drive.

Overview of benefits

  • High availability and operating reliability
  • Proven and reliable design
  • Dual-fuel Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system, for compliance with the most stringent environmental legislation
  • Competitive cost-power ratio
  • Site maintainability
  • Rapid core engine exchange option (minimizes downtime)
  • Ideal as compressor drive thanks to rapid adjustment to load changes

Applications

Industrial power generation

For industrial power generation, a single-shaft configuration of the Siemens SGT-200 gas turbine with twin bearing gas generator, twin bearing power turbine and heavy-duty casings is used. This allows full site maintenance to be carried out. The single-shaft configuration of the Siemens SGT-200 provides excellent load acceptance and rejection characteristics, allowing robust and reliable operation in the following applications, for example:

  • Simple cycle applications
  • Combined cycle applications
  • Combined heat and power (CHP)
  • Power generation for the oil and gas industry, on offshore platforms and FPSO vessels (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading)

Mechanical drive

The twin-shaft version of the industrial gas turbine Siemens SGT-200 is ideal as a mechanical drive for compressors and pumps, since among other features it reacts flexibly to rapid load changes. Thanks to its compact design and low maintenance requirement the turbine is particularly suitable for the oil and gas industry. The Siemens SGT-200 can be operated as a  mechanical drive over a wide speed and load range and offers excellent speed and shutdown flexibility. The twin-shaft Siemens SGT-200 consists of a single gas generator rotor with twin bearings and a two-stage overhung turbine. The rotors are contained in heavy duty casings which are horizontally and vertically split. This design allows full site maintenance to be carried out. Application areas are:

  • Drive solution for pumping applications including the transfer of crude oil, refinery products and as pump drive for water injection
  • Drive solution for compressors in the area of gas injection, boosting pressure in pipelines, in gas processing and similar applications

Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system

The Siemens SGT-200 is available with a conventional or Dry Low Emissions (DLE) combustion system. Both systems are suitable for liquid and gaseous fuels, with the DLE system providing particularly low NOx emission level
