INTRODUCTION
Given the increasing costs for energy, process compressor users have demanded higher performance from centrifugal compressor OEMs. Nowhere is this truer than in the large-scale equipment used for liquefied natural gas, gas to liquid, ethylene or the like. These large trains often press the power limits of very high horsepower turbines.
