Editor’s Note: The following Candid Visions column is devoted to an interview with Nicoletta Giadrossi, vice president and general manager, Europe Middle East & Africa (EMEA); Jerry Walker, vice president and general manager, Americas and Asia Pacific; and Dick Heusinkveld, vice president and general manager Asia Pacific Operations; who responded to questions regarding Dresser-Rand’s manufacturing operations.  

insights: Dresser-Rand has committed itself to “bringing energy and the environment into harmony.” How are manufacturing facilities in all parts of the world embracing this philosophy?

Walker: D-R has initiated projects and programs to improve our environmental performance, with most manufacturing operations certified to the ISO 14001 environmental management system standard. The new technology center in Olean, New York is a LEED® Gold certified building that was designed to improve performance in energy savings, increase water efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. A comprehensive energy audit was conducted in Olean to identify additional opportunities for reducing energy usage and our carbon footprint.

And in Burlington, Iowa, efforts are underway to reduce landfill waste by 75% – including initiating a recycling program.  download complete story PDF
