Dresser Rand
DI-TRONICS IV Vibration
Module The Dresser-Rand, DI-TRONICS IV Vibration Monitoring System, is based on the DI-TRONICS III Vibration Monitoring System and is designed to utilize the VME backplane concept of Programmable Logic Controllers or PLC's. The open architecture concept of the VME backplane allows Dresser-Rand to incorporate vibration modules directly into standard PLC racks. The Dresser Rand DI-TRONICS IV vibration module functions as an integral part of the DI-TRONICS IV control system to monitor radial and thrust bearing vibrations and machine accelerations. The module accepts radial, thrust, velocity and accelerometer inputs from standard vibration sensors. The module consists of two circuit cards, a PLC interface card and a six channel vibration input card, and occupies one PLC slot. Automatic slot detection is used on the interface card so that no hardware jumpers are required for slot addressing. An isolation amplifier on the interface card is used to isolate the field inputs from the PLC, VME backplane. The interface card reads each channel on the vibration input card through a 12-bit analog to digital converter, converts the signal to engineering units, provides signal fail detection, and presents the data to the PLC via a high speed dual ported ram. The six channels can be configured for radial, axial, velocity, or acceleration inputs. With displacement or axial inputs, counter and normal thrust positions can be reversed. Independent alarm and shutdown levels can be set in both directions within the PLC ladder logic via the operator interface terminal. Alarm and shutdown levels for individual vibration input signals are user selectable through the operator interface display and can be password protected for restricted access. The operator interface display provides the user with a visual indication of the actual vibration levels, gap voltages and vibration card health. Individual analog recorder outputs can be provided for any or all vibration input signals. Velocity and acceleration signals can be integrated and/or filtered (up to 36 dB per octave cutoff) for specific applications as required. High pass, low pass, and bandpass filters are also available. Input ranges vary depending on the application. All engineering units are displayed in peak values. All input signals are buffered and can be provided as differential outputs for customer use. All inputs and outputs are available on the face of the module. Serial communication with other devices is also possible using standard PLC protocols for remote display or data gathering purposes. XY / Gap Measurement Features
